Description

Position: Lead Worker with Grounds Maintenance - State Contracts Department: Business Services Reports to: Custodial Project Manager/Ground Maintenance Status: Non-Exempt Goodwill Keystone Area is committed to creating a culture of belonging where all people feel respected and valued. Provides on-the-job training and supports to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment, while fulfilling duties of contracts. Ensures that all quality standards set by the contract are met. Duties and Responsibilities Performs, trains, and assists employees/trainees to perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dust mopping, spot cleaning, trash collection and removal, vacuuming, dusting, restroom cleaning, window washing, floor maintenance, etc. In the absence of the custodial trainer, assigns employees/trainees their duties and follows up on work to ensure that it is completed thoroughly and meets all quality standards. As requested, provides Custodial Project Manager/Ground Maintenance with information for job performance evaluations on employees/trainees. Performs all groundskeeping duties such as mowing the grass, trimming, edging, mulching, basic gardening, snow removal, spreading anti-skid materials on walks, etc. Ensures that all machinery and equipment is properly maintained, sharpened, cleaned, secured, and in good condition. Reports all problems and repair requests to the Custodial Project Manager/Grounds Maintenance or supervisor in a timely manner. Ensures that all employees/trainees, self-included, are using supplies in an efficient manner to reduce waste and cost. Assists the Custodial Project Manager/Grounds Maintenance with maintaining quality standards set by contract. May participate as a member of the quality assurance team. May participate in daily, weekly and monthly inspections. Identifies problems, takes corrective action and keeps Custodial Project Manager/Grounds Maintenance abreast of any potential problems. Maintains daily log as assigned. Works assigned Saturdays as dictated by the contract. Performs period other duties as assigned. Performs all duties in a safe manner and ensures that all employees/trainees, self-included, adhere to safety guidelines such as the use of caution signs when mopping, stripping, waxing floors, and any other high-risk areas. Prompt removal of signs when the area is clear or dry. Ensures that all power equipment and machinery is operated in the approved, safe manner. Practices and teaches safe work methods. Always uses and ensures that proper PPE (goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron, face shield, etc.) is worn by all employees/trainees, self-included, when working in areas or with equipment that dictate their use. Promotes an environment of workplace safety. Assures that duties are performed in a safe manner and safety requirements are adhered to. Communicates progress, problems, and concerns to the Custodial Project Manager/Grounds Maintenance. Qualifications

Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Skills/Abilities/Qualifications Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Must possess good communication skills. Ability to work beyond normal schedule, as needed. Must call Supervisor or Project Manager a MINIMUM of 60 minutes PRIOR to the start of a scheduled shift to report absence. Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactorily complete a motor vehicle check on an annual basis. Must have a clean background check.
