The Department of Human Services is seeking a dynamic Purchasing Agent to join our team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. In this vital role, you will assist in the procurement of necessary supplies, materials, and equipment to maintain the hospital's purchasing activities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will work with a high degree of autonomy in obtaining prices and delivery information on requisitions and preparation of bid invitations. Duties include reviewing and processing purchase requests to ensure the most economical and efficient method of obtaining products is achieved. Additionally, you will review store requests to ensure the timely delivery of products, maintain state contract files, and function as a lead worker when the director is unavailable. This role requires the ability to adapt quickly to new situations so that hospital services are uninterrupted.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hour per week Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel: As needed Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
