Description: Reporting to the Campus Life Director, the Campus Life Coordinator assists with the coordination, implementation, and assessment of student activities and student engagement opportunities for all three campuses. The Campus Life Coordinator performs with versatility in coordinating activities and services in The Mark A. Ivester Living and Learning Center (The Mark), supervising part-time staff, assisting with maintaining recreational grounds and facilities, earning and maintaining needed certifications, and serving as a point of contact for evening and weekend activities.
Major Duties:
Coordinates the implementation of Campus Life activities and events.
Assists in the recruitment of students for participation in Campus Life activities.
Helps coordinate operation of the NGTC Food Pantry, including maintaining the proper food pantry training.
Ensures that printed promotional materials on campuses remain updated and appropriate.
Supervises Campus Life Work-Study employees and/or part-time employees as needed.
Appropriately schedules Work-Study and Part-time employees to provide adequate coverage for The Mark, Campus Life Activities, Campus Life grounds-keeping, and other College amenities (pool, tennis courts, etc.).
Ensures that Work-Study employees are properly trained for the duties they are assigned.
Ensures that timesheets are submitted to Payroll by established deadlines.
Obtains Pool Operator Certification and maintains the proper operational status of the pool for it to be open during posted hours and communicates with the Health Department as needed.
Obtains First Aid/CPR trainer status to provide certification training for Campus Life and Residence Life staff.
Obtains needed certifications associated with operating or maintaining exercise equipment.
Earns and maintains the commercial driver's license needed to operate a passenger bus used to transport students for Campus Life activities.
Maintains a proper mowing schedule for designated recreational areas such as the disc golf course and softball field and supervises (as needed) other staff involved in that work.
Maintains communications and provides ongoing support to the Residence Life Coordinator.
Provides support and assistance to the Campus Life Director.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Campus Security Authority (CSA) Designation
According to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the Campus Life Coordinator is considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and must complete annual CSA training and report any criminal offense directly to campus police.
Competencies and Abilities:
Capability of earning a commercial driver's license (passenger bus) safely transporting students.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Valid Georgia Driver's License.
Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs.
Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Appropriate interpersonal skills in working with the public in a customer service capacity and in engaging with a diverse student population.
Physical Demands:
The employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
This position involves operating machinery and equipment such as mowers, utility task vehicles, and power tools.
The employee must be willing to work outside in safe but sometimes challenging conditions.
Monetary Transactions: N/A
Travel Requirements: Frequent non-overnight travel to satellite campuses and community organizations. Occasional overnight travel required for professional development.
Training Requirements: Employee understands and agrees to complete all required trainings, including those mandated by the State of Georgia Governor, by stated deadlines as a condition of employment.
