Manager, Operations Core Publishing Solutions (CPS) is one of the largest book manufacturing facilities in the country. We utilize both digital and conventional offset printing to produce over 30 million hardbound, softbound and loose-leaf books annually. Our operation is a full service including a large warehouse where over 80,000 titles are stored, fulfilled and managed.CPS services Thomson Reuters' Global Print business for Legal & Tax titles, as well as a wide variety of Commercial book publishers and brokers. We are looking for an experienced manufacturing manager to lead operations for one or more of our operational areas including Pre-Press, Press, Bindery, Order Fulfillment, Distribution, and Raw Materials Receiving & Warehousing. About the Role In this opportunity as an Operations Manager, your responsibilities will be to: Champion a100% safe strategyby modeling leadership commitment to safety, empowering teams to uphold safe behaviors, and recognizing success. Lead athree-shift manufacturing operationacross two major departmental areas, overseeing150-200 full-time production staffand additional contract labor throughsix production supervisors. Applytiered management practicesto ensure structured communication, accountability, and escalation across all levels of the operation. Develop talent usingTraining Within Industry (TWI)andstandard work processes, with a focus on building flexibility and capabilityto support dynamic production needs. Provide effective talent management through training, coaching, regular feedback, and performance reviews. Lead hiring efforts to maintain optimal staffing aligned with budget and production goals and creating a high performing team. Leadcontinuous improvement initiativesusingLean manufacturing principlesto standardize and enhance safety, quality, and efficiency across production workflows. Oversee performance evaluation, salary administration, promotions, corrective action, and other performance-related matters. Collaborate withsales and customer account management teamsto support customer interactions and ensure alignment with production capabilities. Foster a healthy culture that is aligned with company values. Utilize business systems to monitor and report onefficiency, productivity, and improvement opportunitiesacross manufacturing operations. Leadchange management effortsto support operational transformation, technology adoption, and process evolution in a fast-paced production environment. About You You're a fit for the role of Operations Manager if your background includes: Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced education and demonstrated work experience. 6+ years of progressive leadership experience, including direct supervision of frontline leaders. Experience inprint or book manufacturingoperations strongly preferred, including process flow, production planning, and financial impact analysis. Demonstrated success inLean manufacturing,tiered management, andchange leadershipwithin a high-volume production environment. Willingness to expand capabilities through rotational assignments inmanufacturing,supply chain,fulfillment, andcustomer-facing operations. Strong knowledge ofSAPand other business systems preferred. Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills. Ability to build relationships across all levels, establish personal credibility, and serve as a trusted business partner. Results-driven and capable of working independently and within matrixed teams. Skilled in motivating teams, resolving challenges, and sharing knowledge. Intermediate to advanced proficiency inMicrosoft Officeand other digital tools.
