This position is an Environmental Compliance Specialist position housed in the Drinking Water Compliance Unit of the

Watershed Compliance Program. This position will has two functions: (1) as drinking water compliance specialist and (2) as a

disaster relief training / emergency response coordinator.

The drinking water compliance specialist role includes: Rule management for one or more Safe Drinking Water Act Rules; use

Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database to monitor and determine Water System's compliance with Rules;

initiate timely enforcement actions as appropriated for the violations, follow up to ensure that affected Water Systems have

returned to compliance; and provide technical information to the regulated community and the general public as needed. This

role may include a facility compliance inspection component.

The disaster relief / emergency response role includes: Support of emergency response, provide coordination of Emergency

Support Function 3 (ESF-3) water sector emergency response activities per EPD's MOU with GEMHSA including: coordinate

direct emergency response and manage resource requests during State Operations Center (SOC) activations, act as primary

liaison with GEMHSA, EPA, USACE and other agencies and NGOs, coordinate any non-activation water sector responses,

recruit and train a pool of EPD employees to provide around-the-clock assistance with response coordination during SOC

activations, develop EPD-specific training fir the staff pool, expand SOPs to include all aspects of emergency response function within the Branch, develop a tracking tool (with EPA and/or ESRI) for water and wastewater system assessment after

emergency events, and promote emergency preparedness through participation in training events, workshops and

conferences.

Experience in state and federal rules and regulations.

Experience working in an environmental profession.

Familiarity with state and federal drinking water rules and regulations.

Work experience in emergency response and/or preparedness, and/or facility resilience assessment

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, geology, engineering, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university.
