Matheny Medical and Educational Center has a career opportunity available for a Full Time Nursing Supervisor at our Peapack, NJ medical center.
Directs and oversees the activities of the Nursing and Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff for designated nursing units on a particular shift. The Nursing Supervisor is a colleague to unit-based Assistant Directors of Nursing (ADONs) reports to the CNO or designee.
Demonstrates strong leadership and management skills. Communicates well with staff and fosters a supportive and motivating environment.
Oversees services provided by nurses, DSPs, DSP Supervisors and Lead DSPs for hospital units on a designated shift.
Ensures adequate Nursing and DSP staffing for each shift in order to meet the needs of the clients.
Coordinates orientation and training of nurses and DSPs; Communicates performance expectations, assesses competencies, provides coaching and mentorship, and appraises job performance at least annually.
Collaborates with ADONs, Nursing administration and department heads regarding patient care issues. Develops strategies to address these issues in order to ensure Patients' needs are met.
Provides regular feedback pertaining to program functioning, issues and developments that occur during the designated shift.
Plans and conducts training for nurses and DSPs per shift, per unit on patient care, nursing procedures and safety measures.
Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families to coordinate patient care services.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among interdisciplinary team members through ongoing communication, timely responses, and efforts to build rapport. Participates in problem-solving efforts and accomplishes assigned tasks for the team.
Supervises staff members on the designated shift on an ongoing basis. Provides input related to unit nurses' job performance to ADONs. Ensures annual performance evaluations are completed and reviewed with all assigned nurses in a timely manner.
Fosters a supportive and motivating environment by providing emotional support to patients, families, and staff members.
Ensures availability of all required equipment and inventory for clients and staff members.
Participates in the development of the departmental budget by evaluating staffing needs, equiptment, and supply requirements for the designated shift.
Protects patients and staff members by ensuring compliance with infection control policies and procedures and enforcing medication administration storage procedures and controlled dangerous substance regulations.
Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of medical records. Regularly audits documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
Ensures quality of care by interpreting hospital and Nursing philosophies and standards of care. Enforces adherence to New Jersey Board of Nursing and New Jersey Nurse Practice Act requirements as well as those of other governing agencies. Adheres to Joint Commission and CMS standards.
Maintains current knowledge of all emergency procedures and acts as incident commander during shift hours pending arrival of emergency services.
Coordinates, plans, and participates in staff training and performance evaluation during code blue drills. Maintains data on all emergency drills and events.

The minimum salary scale for this position is $99,000.00/annually.

Position Requirements
Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university preferred.
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing required.
Current BLS Certification required.
ACLS and/or PALS certification preferred.
IV certification preferred.
