DescriptionSummary ObjectiveThe purpose of this position is to provide skilled electrical and maintenance work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, motors, and components. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the @type of work of the class as necessary.Supervises the installation and repair of wiring and associated electrical components.Maintains motors and other @types of electrical equipment.Operates bucket and pick-up trucks, various kinds of meters and hand tools in order to perform electrical and general maintenance work.Trains Electrician I's in all aspects of the work.Sets up, tests, operates, assesses, and repairs equipment required for live events, such as in person press conferences and video conferences, such as WebEx.Performs related work as assigned.Minimum RequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSSuccessful completion of a maintenance electrician course at a recognized vocational or trade school.Two (2) years of experience in electrical maintenance work or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.Must complete the annual security awareness training.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.Involves routine and frequent exposure to:Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.Traffic; Moving machinery.Electrical shock; Heights.AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMPLIANCELouisville Metro Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
