About the Grand Junction Regional Center:
This position resides at the Grand Junction Regional Center. This regional center exists to manage the day-to-day operations and service delivery for Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC), licensed as an Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (IDD) as well as a provider of Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), waiver services. GJRC provides 24/7 direct care for approximately 80 residents. GJRC's primary goal is to provide the necessary supports and services to residents who cannot be safely served in community-based programs due to complex medical and/or behavioral needs.

Description of Job
The Clinical Safety Officer IIIoversees safety and security operations across multiple residential and day program facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities at GJRC. This role includes crisis intervention, supervision of approximately nine safety staff, training, and ensuring compliance with regulations to maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and property.
In addition, as a Clinical Safety Officer, you can expect to:
Monitor and document safety and security across 11 homes and 1 day program location.
Conduct daily safety checks, maintain documentation in databases, and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
Drive between multiple sites daily to observe staff performance, treatment plan adherence, and documentation accuracy.
Lead crisis response efforts, including verbal de-escalation, approved physical interventions, and searches for missing individuals or contraband.
Interface with law enforcement when necessary and provide clinical input on individual behavior programs.
Supervise and provide work direction to Clinical Safety Officer I staff, including assigning duties, approving leave, and monitoring compliance with policies and regulations.
Provide training to staff in verbal and physical intervention techniques, searches, and other safety/security procedures.
Evaluate staff skills and retrain as needed to ensure proper crisis intervention and safety practices.
Participate in developing and refining policies, procedures, and behavior intervention strategies.
Perform minor maintenance, assist with agency projects, and collaborate with other departments to provide coverage or support.
Maintain compliance with state, federal, and agency regulations, including CMS, CDPHE, and ICF/IID standards.
Act as an essential personnel member, available to work any shift, schedule, or location as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position (for example: direct support care, security, group home staff, nursing home staff)
Substitutions
Additional appropriate education (such as psychology, social work, criminal justice, and human services) will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with behavioral intervention, physical management, patient care, safety assessments, environmental checks, training
One year of supervisory experience
Ability to communicate effectively
Skilled with prioritizing and organizing work
Conditions of Employment:
CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults - Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
Pre-employment Physical/Tests - must demonstrate the ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, squat, etc. and perform physical interventions proficiently (pre-employment and continuously throughout employment). TB test required.
Must have valid unrestricted U.S. Driver License
Position must travel between work sites and transport individuals as needed.
Position is required to use a State vehicle to transport residents. When not transporting individuals, this person may drive a State vehicle or choose to drive their own
GJRC is a 24/7 facility, therefore a person in this position must be available to work any shift, and/or any area, to meet agency needs. Schedule may change frequently to meet the needs of the agency, department and/or individuals
Requires Influenza and other vaccines as required by state and facility; must be 18 years or older. TB test is required
Former employees of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) who were disciplinary terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on your application and may not be eligible for employment at CDHS
