Job Description
Inver Hills Community College seeks a Information Technology Lab Assistant to assist faculty and students in the Information Technology Careers department by maintaining lab equipment, preparing instructional materials, and supporting hands-on learning activities. Provide general support in labs for related departments such as Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Geology, and Geography.
Responsibilities Include:
Monitor open lab sessions and help students with computing operations
In coordination with ITC faculty manage the lifecycle of information technology hardware and software used for ITC labs
Assist the departments of Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Geology and Geography as requested or needed.
Assist faculty in room and equipment preparation for ITC classes and labs
Maintain records and prepare reports.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Salary Range:
We would like to clarify that the correct salary range for the College Lab Assistant 1 - ITS Lab Assistant position is $20.58 - $28.35 /Hour and $42,971 - $59,195/Year. We encourage you to reach out to our office if you have any questions.
Minimum Qualifications
Post-secondary coursework in information technology systems and network administration
OR
6 months of teaching/tutoring experience in information technology systems and network administration at the high school level or above
OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred Qualification
Education and experience in:
Enterprise network router, switch, and firewall configuration
Linux server administration
Enterprise virtual machine hypervisor administration
Windows server and client administration
PC hardware including assembly and disassembly of systems
Communication skills including the ability to understand complex technical written and verbal instructions and to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize projects and work with limited supervision
Technical experience with at least some of these specific technologies:
Proxmox Hypervisor
Cisco IOS routers and switches
OPNsense Firewalls
OpenVPN
Debian Linux Servers
NDG Netlab
IT Infrastructure Automation (Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible)
Active Directory and LDAP
Python Scripting
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
