Summary The incumbent serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist for computers and telecommunications for the Management Information Systems at the Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU) in Pine Ridge, SD. The position supports the PRSU's medical and administrative applications and users of such applications. This position reports to the Supervisory IT Specialist. Applies IT principles, methods and practices in order to survey, analyze, test, install, upgrade, and program equipment. Maintains the data communications and telecommunications network. Provides recommendations on systems operating procedures, data collection, data quality, and equipment environments. Trains alternate site managers and other end-users on the implementation, operation, maintenance and support of local databases. Maintains the voice and data communications network and inventory and management of telecommunications equipment. Prepares annual reports for long-term planning for budgeting and forecasting of computer systems and data communication needs. GS-05: Bachelor's degree GS-07: One (1) full year of graduate level education or bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement. GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following @type of work and/or tasks: Assist IT Specialists and provide basic IT needs, assist with implementing hardware and software, provide technical assistance to telecommunication systems. GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following @type of work and/or tasks: Maintain Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS), install and manage new hardware and software, maintain voice and data communications network. GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following @type of work and/or tasks: Serve as Data Base Administrator, train staff in the technical procedures required to operate and maintain functional IT and telecommunication systems, coordinate IT security measures, corrective and preventive maintenance.
