Job Description: Warehouse Supervisor

Position Summary: The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for managing the operations of a warehouse, ensuring the timely and efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of goods. This role requires strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills to oversee a team, optimize workflows, and maintain inventory accuracy while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

Manage a team of employees loaned from other departments.

Assign tasks, provide training, and ensure optimal performance of the team.

Inventory Management:

Oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, ensuring accurate inventory records.

Track inventory levels and reorder stock as needed to prevent shortages.

Perform regular stock audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.

Warehouse Operations:

Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes and layouts to optimize space, reduce costs, and improve workflow.

Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring that orders are processed on time and accurately.

Ensure that goods are properly labeled, packaged, and stored according to company standards and safety regulations.

Health & Safety:

Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring that all safety procedures are followed.

Ensure that the warehouse complies with local, state, and federal regulations.

Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for the warehouse team.

Logistics & Coordination:

Coordinate with operations, sales, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Manage relationships with suppliers and carriers to ensure efficient inbound and outbound logistics.

Plan and oversee logistics activities to minimize delays and maximize efficiency.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of inventory, shipments, and receipts.

Prepare reports on warehouse performance, including inventory levels, order processing times, and safety compliance.

Analyze performance metrics and implement strategies for improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Bachelor's degree in logistics, business or related field (preferred).

5+ years experience in warehouse management or operations.

Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or similar role.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Ability to self motivate, especially when working alone.

In-depth knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics.

Familiarity with warehouse management software (WMS) and other related systems.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to move throughout the warehouse, often for long periods, to monitor operations and ensure compliance with procedures.

Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and kneeling during the workday.

Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds (occasionally more, depending on the role) for tasks such as inspecting goods or assisting in inventory management.

Lifting and handling of packages or materials that are being checked, moved, or prepared for shipment.
