We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our team on a Contract basis in Santa Clara, California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bankruptcy law, particularly Chapter 7 and 11 cases, and be comfortable managing legal filings, client interactions, and case documentation. This position is 100% on-site and requires someone who is detail oriented and adept at handling sensitive client situations with care and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, with a focus on Chapter 7 and 11 cases, using BestCase and Jubilee software.

Manage federal court filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines and legal standards.

Organize and maintain client case files, utilizing case management tools such as Clio and Dropbox.

Communicate with clients, including those in emotionally charged situations, to provide updates and address concerns.

Draft and review legal documents, such as petitions and other court-related paperwork.

Coordinate schedules and deadlines through effective calendar management.

Collaborate with attorneys and other staff to ensure smooth case progression and resolution.

Utilize Excel for tracking case data and managing related documentation.

Handle filings with the appropriate courts and agencies, including electronic submissions.

Provide administrative support to ensure the office operates efficiently and meets client expectations.

Requirements - At least 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, with a focus on bankruptcy law.

Proficiency in using case management software, such as BestCase, Jubilee, and Clio.

Strong knowledge of federal court filing procedures; familiarity with state filings is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to draft, edit, and review legal documents with precision.

Advanced skills in calendar management to coordinate deadlines and schedules.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking and organizing case-related data.

Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.

Ability to maintain professionalism and composure when dealing with upset or distressed clients.
