Job Title: Medical Office Assistant

Job Description

The Medical Office Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations within a medical practice. This position involves answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling prior authorizations, and rooming patients. The assistant will also address messages, manage medication refills, and handle same-day requests, providing support to a designated doctor.

Responsibilities

Answer phones and assist with patient inquiries.

Schedule appointments and manage the calendar effectively.

Handle prior authorizations and insurance queries.

Room patients and ensure their comfort during visits.

Address messages promptly and accurately.

Manage medication refills as requested.

Support clinical and administrative tasks within the practice.

Essential Skills

Strong customer service skills.

Proficient in data entry and managing patient information.

Excellent communication skills.

Familiarity with medications.

Experience with Internal Medicine.

Clerical skills including insurance handling.

Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is helpful.

Medical Assistant (MA) Diploma required.

Experience with EPIC software preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, family-based practice offering a mix of clinical and administrative experience. The role requires a professional appearance in accordance with policy. The work schedule is flexible, with Monday to Thursday 10-hour days between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. Patient volume typically ranges from 15-20 per day, and the assistant will be assigned to support one doctor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of the shoreline in New Haven county.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
