Summary This Health Technician position is specifically for Primary Care (PACT) services. This role functions as a laboratory technician collecting specimens and drawing blood in outpatient clinic labs. They will be stationed in Northport NY but will be expected to travel to other clinics (East Meadow, Valley Stream, Bay Shore, Patchogue, and Riverhead) to cover for other Health Technicians. They are also responsible for completing Veteran intakes and assisting the front desk when needed. Responsibilities The Health Technician duties include but are not limited to: Will provide the necessary clerical and administrative support to the Primary Care clinic or section as assigned. Maintains Veteran's records/charts. Provide clerical duties such as Vista clinic appointment management, after visit summary printing, management of medication reconciliation list distribution to Veterans Performs Veteran charting using standard approved medical terminology for human body, physical and emotional reactions, nursing care, etc...Enters information regarding care rendered and condition and progress of the Veteran. As part of performance improvement, review records for completeness: identifies and documents problems or potential problems. Facilitates process analysis to alleviate problems Participates as a member of the PACT team, Completes intake template including. reminders as appropriate. Participates in team huddles, weekly meetings and PACT IDT meetings either in person or through V-Tel. May be assigned to PACT in Northport and each CBOC or as staffing requires. Performs Veteran care procedures such. as collection of specimens, applying dressings, adjusting simple supportive equipment. Performs simple procedures such as collection of blood samples or other fluid samples from ambulatory Veterans, application of sterile dressings to uncomplicated wound or similar Veteran care. Uses proper sterile techniques for collection of samples. Verifies correct labeling and Veteran identification. Records test-time and intervals as appropriate. Assists with or performs standard health care procedures. Performs: other duties ag assigned. Performs phlebotomy in CBOC'S, draws blood, performs centrifuge and packages labs for transport. Manages the supplies with in the phlebotomy lab in the CBOCs. Manages the daily functioning of the phlebotomy lab in the CBOCs. Completes & submits monthly whole glucose testing per protocol in CBOC's Completes pregnancy testing as needed and completes calibration quarterly. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 - 4PM.
