Summary About the Position: Perform the full range of unit, intermediate and, as authorized, depot level maintenance on single rotor helicopters powered by turbine engines. This position is located at Fort Belvoir, VA. Responsibilities Conduct inspections on rotary wing aircraft and systems. Perform post flight inspections. Adjust oil and fuel pressure, flight controls, power controls, and engine trim. Performs functional tests to ensure proper operation of aircraft. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Broad experience with various @types of rotary wing aircraft in order to correct malfunctions of systems, subsystems, major assemblies and components; use diagnostic and test equipment to include operation of ground support equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Troubleshooting Use of Measuring Instruments May occasionally be required to lift and carry items that weigh up to 50 pounds. Work is dirty, greasy, and unpleasantly noisy. Work is performed both inside and outside. Inside work is performed on concrete floors where areas are drafty and occasionally damp, and where fumes are present. Outside areas are unprotected from elements such as wind, rain, snow, and wide temperature variations. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a( #17 Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. This position has been designated Key(2): This position has been identified as being a Key and Mission Essential position and has been designated under the provisions of AR 690-11, Mobilization Planning and Management. A Key position is defined as any Army position that cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of their agency to function effectively. Because of the essential nature of these positions, the Secretary of the Army, or his designee, shall designate such positions as key positions and shall require that they not be filled by members of the National Guard, Ready Reservists or military retirees with recall obligations. This is an Inclement Weather position. Incumbent may be required to report or remain on duty during inclement weather.
