Position Summary: The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in driving
the company\'s financial operations, ensuring financial stability and
upholding the integrity of the organization. Under the direction of the
Finance Director, the Staff Accountant prepares and processes financial
activities, adhering to compliant accounting standards and principles
while maintaining robust internal controls. This role encompasses
overseeing accounts payable, managing corporate credit card
transactions, processing fixed assets, handling cash receipts, and
maintaining related general ledger accounts. What You\'ll Do: Process
all council accounts payable in accordance with regulations and internal
controls by ensuring invoices submitted for payment are appropriately
authorized and have correct expense account numbers. Verify accuracy of
final checks by applying eligible discounts, resolving unverified
invoices, uncashed checks and discrepancies. Maintain a computerized
vendor list, accounting software files and vendor W-9 form. Prepare
monthly reconciliations and enter journal entries, including fixed
assets (acquisitions, transfers, disposals and depreciation), inventory,
retail store daily transactions, and electronic transactions in cash
accounts. Manage and maintain the council\'s Certificates of Insurance
files and issue appropriate Certificates of Insurance. Prepare and
electronically file monthly state sales tax reports with the State of
Wisconsin. Commit to continuous learning to support the needs of the
department and council by staying knowledgeable of the finance
department\'s systems, procedures, and protocols. Remain current with
accounting software and the accounts payable system to ensure optimal
usage and functionality. Provides guidance to staff and members on
financial policies and procedures. Prepare reports and maintain files in
accordance with legal, retention policies, and security/confidentiality
requirements. Crosstrain with other team members on related financial
job functions. Manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and
service expectations in a timely manner and with quality output. Operate
with urgency, flexibility and adaptability to complete job duties.
Provide support to the Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer with
special projects as needed. Who You Are and Keys to Success: An
associate degree in accounting or a minimum of five years of relevant
experience. A bachelor\'s degree in accounting is preferred. Proficiency
in Microsoft products and accounting software. Knowledge of MIP/Abila is
a plus. Display high integrity and maintain confidentiality. Excellent
oral and written communication skills (verbal, written, in person and/or
over the telephone). Responsive to customer needs through effective time
management, attention to detail and good organizational skills.

uses discretion, is flexible, and thrives in an ever changing and
fast-paced environment. Can creatively and successfully solve problems

annually or as a lifetime member. Occasional travel within the region is
required. A valid driver\'s license and use of your own vehicle are
preferred. If so, you must comply with the council\'s automobile
insurance policy limits and have a driving record that meets the
requirements of the council\'s business auto insurance carrier. If you
are unable to drive, a transportation plan must be submitted and
approved prior to an official offer being made. The physical demands
described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee
is required to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods of
time, occasionally required to stand for long periods, and operate
office equipment manually. The employee must be able to lift and/or move
up to 25 pounds. Full range of body motion including manual and finger
