Position Overview
Shockwave Medial is recruiting for a Senior Manager of Operational Excellence, Strategic Culture and Capability Management for the Global Operations and IT Organization. This role is based in Santa Clara, California and will support Global Operations and IT. As a lead, you will provide strategic direction and execution of the Capability building, Communication, Change Management, Culture and Engagement of the Global and regional teams. The areas of responsibilities will be focused on overall efficiency, effectiveness, and performance:
Functional Capability Management: Design and deliver programs to build employee skills that will enable the execution of the Global Strategy.
Internal Communication and Change Management : focus on messaging, cascading and alignment of the Global strategy at all levels of the organization. This communication will keep employees focused, engaged and informed while helping the teams navigate change through transformation.
OpEx Culture : focus on the development, deploying, coaching and performance tracking of the ideal Key Behavior to achieve the desired results for our business.
Essential Job Functions
Functional Capability Management
Lead the design and strategic deployment of robust functional competency frameworks, skill matrices, and training pathways aligned with critical technical and operational processes
Collaborate with leadership, SMEs, and BUHR to conduct comprehensive capability gap analyses, identifying current and future skill requirements for operational excellence, optimal culture, regulatory compliance, and technological/process advancements
Develop and implement systematic approaches for capability assessment, validation, and continuous upgrading of critical tech/operational skills, ensuring our workforce meets and exceeds industry standards, forecasted requirements, and emerging needs
Design, oversee, and/or support programs that ensure the targeted development of functional capabilities, translating identified gaps into actionable strategies for skill acquisition, proficiency building, and knowledge transfer within teams/functions
Measure and report on the impact of functional capability development initiatives on operational metrics such as efficiency, quality, yield, and cycle time, using data to refine and enhance future interventions
Build organizational capability beyond the OpEx team in deployment of improvement methodologies, systems, tools, and practices in the organization (such as design for manufacturing, Shingo systems/principles, Lean problem-solving tools, change management)
Communication and Change Management
Develop and implement communication plans to articulate the vision, progress, and impact of strategic initiatives across all levels of the Global Ops organization
Act as a change champion, effectively communicating the "why" behind operational changes, and fostering broad understanding, buy-in, and commitment
Design, maintain and lead the Visual Management System and communication tools.
Facilitate cross-functional forums and communities of practice to promote knowledge sharing, standardize best practices, and break down silos across operational units
Lead stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure alignment and collaboration between teams, leadership, and support functions in driving operational excellence.
Serves as a SME for change management by leading, facilitating and creating the capabilities to help teams navigate change.
Develop and execute change management strategies that drive the adoption of new operational systems, technologies, and best practices, ensuring sustainable behavioral shifts
Act as a change agent, support team and functional leadership in realizing organizational changes and influencing leaders without direct authority to enhance culture and behaviors
OpEx Culture
Partner with BUHR in the development and execution of the engagement strategy for Global Ops
Lead the development, definition, and evolution of the Principles and Key Behaviors that will enable Operational Excellence, in partnership with business leaders.
Lead cultural transformations of the business through the implementation and coaching of ideal behaviors and systems.
Create and monitor all KBI (Key Behavior Indicators) throughout the Global Ops Organization, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence towards Operational Excellence.
Collaborate with BUHR/TA to enable attraction and recruitment of candidates that align with and enhance Global Ops culture and team dynamics.
Establish and implement mechanisms for celebrating operational successes and learning from challenges, reinforcing desired behaviors and fostering a positive, proactive problem-solving environment
Reinforce a culture where continuous improvement, culture-enabling principles, and a growth mindset are fundamental to functional processes and decision-making
Leads development and implementation of culture-enabling strategic OpEx initiatives and other continuous improvement projects
Coaching
Deliver strategic coaching focused on enhancing OpEx behaviors and capabilities across the function
Partner BUHR and leaders to embed a coaching mindset, empowering them to effectively develop their teams' capabilities and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Facilitate peer learning and mentorship programs within Global Ops teams to accelerate OpEx and culture-aligned skill development, and foster a shared commitment to OpEx
Facilitate/coach teams and individuals to apply culturally aligned principles and behaviors
Data-Driven Insights & Strategic Impact
Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics related to functional capability maturity, cultural health, and the direct impact on operational outcomes (e.g., productivity, quality incidents, waste reduction)
Leverage advanced data analytics to identify correlations between competency levels, cultural attributes, and operational performance metrics, providing actionable insights for effectiveness and improvement
Develop reporting and visualization dashboards to communicate insights to leadership, enabling data-informed strategic decisions regarding workforce and culture requirements and optimization (in partnership with BUHR as appropriate)
Utilize predictive analytics to anticipate future technical skill requirements and cultural shifts, proactively designing interventions to maintain a competitive advantage in the med tech landscape
Enable Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Support training and awareness of OpEx tools, processes, and methodologies
Connect with enterprise OpEx organization: exchange knowledge/best practices, benchmark, identify and drive adoption of proven practices
Challenge the status quo and identify and shape next wave business improvement opportunities (develop and present business cases to decision makers)
Support workshops and initiatives that empower operational teams to identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and implement solutions, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability for performance
Requirements
This position will be located in Santa Clara, CA
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, Business Administration or related fields required
Master's degree preferred
Certifications in Coaching, Leadership Development, Change Management or related fields preferred
Experience: minimum 10-15 years of professional experience required, with 8 years of experience in roles focused on Organizational Excellence
Skills: Experience in driving organization transformation and cultural changes. Excellent data analytics, data interpretation and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication, including executive-level presentations. Familiar with business systems, KPI, and performance management tools. Advance facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Additional Information:
The anticipated base pay for this position is $175,950-$238,050 annually.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
