Duties Description Under the supervision of the Historic Site Manager, the Park Worker 3 will be responsible for a broad range of maintenance duties at Johnson Hall State Historic Site. Duties include but are not limited to: - Directly supervising seasonal maintenance staff and volunteers and scheduling work and assigning tasks as needed- Assisting with special events and programing at the historic site. Set up and take down tents, table and chairs etc.- Performing monthly fire extinguisher inspections, schedule contractor for annual testing.- Monitor and perform basic seasonal maintenance to heating and dehumidification systems. Submit workorder for annual inspection and cleaning.- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service on all mowers, tractors, UTV's, as well push mowers, trimmers and chainsaws.- Update facility SDS, Haz Chemical list, Lock out-Tag out procedures. - Assist the Site Manager to review and identify maintenance and safety equipment needs.- Assist the Site Manager to forecast consumables needs for the operating season, ie. Restroom and cleaning supplies, filters, belts, blades lubricants etc.- Provide the site manager monthly report of maintenance activities and equipment use reports by providing a monthly report of maintenance activities necessary for monthly reports.- Perform seasonal mowing, trimming, cutting and snow removal as needed.- Perform basic painting, plumbing and carpentry as needed. Assist regional skilled trades when they are working on site.- Maintaining and promoting a safe working environment by applying appropriate safety practices and procedures.- Perform the biannual Tree Assessment Report, submit work orders for necessary tree work.- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and / or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility. In addition to operations and maintenance, the following @types of experience are also qualifying: law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OROne year of military service in any of the military branches; ORAn Associate's or higher-level degree, or 60 credit hours of college level coursework; OR Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years' experience as a trade's assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson.If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.
