Summary This position is located at Shiprock Service Unit. Nursing Services Branch, Pediatrics Inpatient Unit. The position serves as support staff, responsible for the prioritizing of tasks as assigned under the supervision of licensed professional nursing staffing, utilizing universal precautions to ensure a safe, clean and orderly environment conducive to the delivery of nursing care. Incumbent is under the general supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Nurse. Responsibilities Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Certified Nursing Assistant Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Provides nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with established unit policy; Provides basic nursing care to patients with a variety of conditions, illnesses and/or injuries; obtains and records patient information. Assists in admitting and discharging patients; assist in post mortem care. Reports and observes the patient's change of condition and reactions; communicates with the nurse in charge. Assists health care providers. Collects and provides care of specimens with assistance. Assists patient in Activities of Daily Living (ADL); Adheres to confidentiality polices and the Privacy Act. Maintains a courteous and professional caring attitude when in contact with patients. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement program; assists the Nursing staff in orientation of new personnel. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following @type of work and/or tasks: Providing personal nursing care such as providing pre- and post-operative care. Support duties for diagnostic and technical treatment procedures, such as setting up and operating special medical equipment and apparatus. Caring for mentally ill patients, including observing, recording, and reporting changes in their behavior, and providing reassurance and encouragement. Assisting surgeons and registered nurses in operating room activities, including passing instruments, maintaining sterile conditions, and draping and positioning patients. OR Successful completion of 4-years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses in practical nursing or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position..
