What the day will look like
A Senior Project Portfolio Manager will drive the successful execution of the Business/Operations project portfolio. This role requires the ability to strategically manage a group of projects, programs, and initiatives to achieve alignment with organizational goals.
Their emphasis will be on the effective selection, prioritization, and execution of the project portfolio to optimize business value. This role requires a deep understanding of both project management methodologies and business operations principles.
This role will also manage a team of business project managers, business analysts, and oversight of a Salesforce admin, Salesforce developer and InsPro admin.
Project Portfolio Management Expertise: proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing project portfolios including project selection, prioritization scoring, performance monitoring and communication.
Portfolio Planning and Strategy: Develop and implement project portfolio management strategies to align projects with organizational goals, resource allocation, and strategic priorities.
Identify opportunities to improve project portfolio management processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Working with Affinity Steering Committee and Corporate Value Realization office to evaluate projects based on various criteria, such as business value, risk, and resource availability, to determine which projects to include in the portfolio and how to prioritize them.
Manage the overall funded project portfolio, including prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and change orders while making recommendations for improvement.
Experience leading directly and/or by influence cross-functional development and operations teams in a matrixed/diverse organization.
Communicate portfolio status and progress to key stakeholders, including executive management, project teams, and other relevant parties.
Collaborate with business units to understand their needs, ensure successful project delivery that will contribute to Affinity's strategic business objectives.
Ensure compliance with established processes, standards, and best practices.
Engagement with business operations and functional leaders to identify future strategic initiatives and working with Delivery Management Office, IT and Shared Services leadership on inventorying.
Supporting Affinity business unit leaders and executive sponsors on key decisions on business and technology solution direction, evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations to project leadership.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Project Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project portfolio management.
Client side management of Insurance SAAS implementation
Salesforce
Proven track record of successfully managing complex portfolios and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
Strong strategic analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Certification in PMP, PfMP, or similar is highly desirable.
Business process improvement with proven experience in systematic approach to analyzing and optimizing business processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance.
Must have a deep understanding of project delivery and support methodologies within the spectrum of the matrixed organization and project management office environment processes.
Experience in Waterfall, Iterative and Agile approaches of delivery
Strong Business Acumen: deep understanding of business operations, financial management and strategic planning. Insurance background a plus.
Leadership and Communication Skills: ability to lead and motivate project teams, understand diplomatic communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, and present portfolio information to senior management.
Support and grow business analysts and project managers to better support our clients and colleagues.
Ability to cost estimate, track, and meet budgets and expectations.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is 180,000K to 225,000K annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
