About the Work Unit
The CDPS Compliance & Risk Office exists to provide advanced level research, analysis, and evaluation related to financial, policy, legislation, regulations, agency organization, planning, and central budgets. The team consists of internal auditing, compliance investigations, risk assessment/risk management, policy and rule making, LESO 1033 program administration, workers compensation and unemployment claims administration. Risk management, internal audits, compliance reviews and policy and ruling making are designed to ensure CDPS' overall program integrity and to determine effectiveness, adherence to regulations, statutes, fiscal rules and state and departmental policies and efficiency of CDPS operations.
Work Environment
Hybrid, two days/week required in the office
Work unit core business hours, Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm. (Flexible schedule available with supervisor approval)
About the Job
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with implementation of an enterprise risk management approach in creating a comprehensive plan of action for mitigation and/or management of CDPS's risk environment. This position will proactively assess across the department, programmatic risks through collaborative identification, assessing likelihood and impact for the purposes of identifying strategies and tracking implementation for divisions. This position will work collaboratively with the internal audit work unit to share risk information related to current internal auditing efforts. This position will develop an assessment review schedule for identified high, moderate and low risks. This position will provide ongoing trend analysis to divisional leadership and assist divisions with prioritizing their risk mitigation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
Identifies risks, assesses potential exposures and develops appropriate response plans to mitigate risk exposure and promotes increased assurance in department processes; develops a clear understanding of divisional programs and policies, identifies and assesses risks utilizing a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) approach, understands how risks are identified, managed, controlled; evaluates and prioritizes highest impact risks department-wide; in collaboration with divisional personnel, develops action plans to address risk areas which pose significant negative exposure to department if not immediately remedied; utilizes strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills; be proactive and collaborative.
Risk Mitigation Case Management
Monitors and tracks the implementation for action plans to ensure compliance in addressing risks; develops review schedule for identified high risks (annually for significant risks, 3 years for moderate risks, 5 years for low risks); case manages all actions to ensure proper implementation.
Risk Data Management
Enters and maintains risk data from assessments in risk system; Familiarizes self and become SME in Wdesk ERM Data system software; develops specific reporting tools, products and resources for management on their divisional and departmental risk environment.

Proven Experience, Knowledge, Skills
Seven (7) years of professional specialized experience in conducting risk compliance and mitigation plan implementation and execution.
OR Education and Experience, Knowledge, Skills
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field and three (3) years of professional specialized experience in conducting risk compliance and mitigation plan implementation and execution.
OR
Advanced degree and one (1) year of professional specialized experience in conducting risk compliance and mitigation plan implementation and execution.
Required Competencies
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing, including the ability to question, and work effectively at all levels within and outside CDPS.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work collaboratively with agency employees across multiple divisions and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and utilize graphs to display statistical results.
Must be able to assume responsibility, initiate action, and work independently simultaneously while fitting into a team environment as characterized by shared accountabilities.
Must have the ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects and work under pressure, and meet commitments within strict time frames.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, customer service, interpersonal skills and communication and emotional intelligence while working with team members and CDPS customers.

Conditions of Employment
Requires successful completion of a background investigation that includes a polygraph exam, a fingerprint based criminal history search, reference checking, driving history.
