ASAP and ACE programs help students earn their college degree as quickly as possible, by removing the financial, academic and personal obstacles that many students confront. Key ASAP|ACE program features include a consolidated block schedule, cohorts by major, required full-time study and comprehensive advisement and career development services. Financial incentives include tuition waivers for financial aid eligible students, yearly textbook vouchers, and semester OMNY cards for all students. The ACE Academic Advisor is a member of an integrated team providing individual academic, career and related support to an assigned group of program students, utilizing a variety of modalities, as they progress towards completing their bachelor's degree. Reporting to the ACE Director, the academic advisor is responsible to carry out advisement services to their cohort of students in accordance with program policy, with the goal of retaining the maximum number of students each semester and graduating a minimum of 50% of each student cohort. The ACE academic advisor will collaborate with other program staff, as well as faculty to provide coordinated services and support student success. The academic advisor assists with all program initiatives, including special events and recruitment, if necessary.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Deliver comprehensive advisement support services to an assigned group of students through degree completion, according to campus program advisement rubric
Utilize campus degree maps to create semester by semester academic plans for freshman, continuing and/or transfer students as appropriate
Consistently review student progress and provide timely interventions to keep students on track toward degree
Enter/document/track all student contact in ACE program and/or college student database, recommend referral and services as appropriate
Run student contact queries/reports consistently to determine outreach and follow up needed to meet students with the frequency and modality required by the program
Conduct workshops and group advisement on topics of relevance and interest
Performs related duties as assigned.
PRIMARY DUTIES:

Conducts or supports delivery of weekly student seminars on issues of importance to students;
Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic support services
Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success
Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs
Supports annual recruitment of new students into the program
Organizes periodic special events and programs for students, faculty and staff
Performs other related duties as assigned by the ACE Director. NOTE: Employment is based on continued funding from New York City for the program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in an appropriate discipline and four years related experience.
(Master's degree can be substituted for up to two years of required related experience.)
The preferred candidate will have:
Strong understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse urban backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, within the department and with faculty
and other administrators
Strong organization, project management, communication, and facilitation skills
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of student activities
Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.

Provides information to students regarding student support services, college policies and program procedures and guidelines
Facilitates workshops; assists with other department activities such as course scheduling
Establishes and maintains student advisement files; prepares activity reports and analyses
May supervise extramural activities, such as internships and community service; may assist with accreditation efforts as needed
May provide career and transfer services and/or specialized program counseling
May supervise junior advising and/or clerical staff
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$61,831 - $70,815, salary commensurate with education and experience.
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/2026, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
