The School Finance Division is looking for an Auditor Principal - Education Funding Auditor to join the division. This position will independently plan and conduct audits of local education agencies (LEAs) records and files to verify district pupil counts, levy limitations, and aid entitlements involving multiple complex education programs and education funding programs; student data collection; identified errors; ensure compliance with state and federal requirements; and membership requirements.
Provide expert leadership to LEA personnel regarding program requirements and procedures on student accounting, student data reporting, and record-keeping. Duties include providing consultation to MDE program managers, staff, and policymakers to communicate information gathered through research, analysis and audit work to provide process solutions and strategies. Impose appropriate adjustments to state education aid entitlements and levy limitations based on student data corrected in the audit process.
This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota or a bordering state. Effective June 1, employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. For those who live 50 or more miles away, with supervisory approval and satisfactory performance are eligible to telework up to 100% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional experience in monitoring, finance, auditing, accounting, data analysis or school/education operations role;
OR
A bachelor's or master's degree and two (2) years of professional experience in monitoring, finance, auditing, accounting, data analysis or school/education operations role;
Experience must include two (2) of the following:
Working knowledge of or experience with Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) reporting or education funding programs in Minnesota.
Providing consultation on state and federal laws, statute and rules and regulations governing education funding.
Monitoring expenditures of state and federal funds or conducting audits of state and federal fund.
Experience working in a school business office.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Minnesota laws, rules, and administrative procedures related to student accounting and education finance.
Working knowledge of or experience with Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) reporting or education funding programs in Minnesota.
Experience providing consultation on state and federal laws, statute and rules and regulations governing education funding.
Experience working in a school business office.
Experience planning, developing, and conducting audits or monitoring reviews of state and federal funds.
Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to communicate complex information, information requests, and audit results to diverse audiences.
