Job Focus Area
Within the Louisiana Department of Education, the Office of Governmental and Public Affairs coordinates efforts across divisions to effectively develop and implement education policy. Key to this work is precision in executing the requirements of the Louisiana Administrative Procedure Act as well as efficiency in coordination of research and legislative engagement projects conducted by the team.
We are looking for an Administrative Assistant 5 to support policy and legislative affairs team members in administrative and research tasks, providing comprehensive support in rulemaking process management, legislative tracking, and report development.
An ideal applicant would bring superb focus and attention to detail as well as the ability to understand and execute complex tasks. Excellent reading and writing skills are preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As the Governmental and Public Affairs Administrative Assistant, you will:
Monitor the progress of education policy throughout the Administrative Procedure Act process, reviewing in a timely manner to ensure accuracy of submissions at each step of the process.
Communicate with team members within and across agency divisions regarding relevant steps in the rulemaking process.
Support team members in development and timely execution of legislatively required reports and documents.
Support team members in identification and tracking of legislative instruments during the Louisiana legislative session.
Support team members with research and preparation for policy and legislative issues.
Manages correspondence and established deadlines with discretion and confidentiality.
Establishes and maintains electronic files.
Attends meetings as needed.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This is apart-time position and isnot eligible for benefits or paid holidays, andhas a limit to the number of hours worked (maximum of 1245 hours) in a 12 month period, beginning with the first day of employment. The hours belong to the employee and any available hours follow the employee.
Work Schedule: Work days and hours to be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
