General Summary:

It is responsibl e fo r activitie s an d service s relate d t o th e academi c succes s o f participants . Provide s academi c an d financial advisin g t o participant s an d supervise s variou s employee s i n th e deliverin g o f tutorin g an d advisin g service s . This position supervises the tutor/mentors and conducts follow up services with former participants.
This is a Grant funded position
Responsibilities:
Assess students' academic development through individual and group meetings and guides them in their personal, professional and career choice development using appropriate resources.
Evaluates all participants' academic and curriculum needs.
Upkeeps and maintains records of individual student documentation for program requirements and other federal grant-related databases to assist the Director in meeting federal and program initiatives.
Evaluates and tracks academic progress of program participants.
Evaluates the project's tutoring and academic enrichment programs
Oversees and plans the program's tutoring services with Director.
Provides financial aid resources.
Coordinates academic, tutoring, and advising services with other University departments.
Collaborates with CAMP staff and university partners to implement retention activities.
Provides STEM focus for participants.

Necessary Qualifications:
Master's degree or equivalent experience in Education, Social Science, or related field.
Success in overcoming circumstances such as low-income, first generation, disadvantaged, etc., with priority to individuals knowledgeable about specific migrant needs and communities served.
Two (2) years of experience working with disadvantaged and nontraditional students in an educational setting or program.
Experience and knowledge of University curricula and programs.
Strong counseling/advising and communication skills.
Ability to assess and interpret individual student needs and to make appropriate referrals. Strong organizational skills.
Strong advising and communication skills and knowledge of the University curriculum and degree programs is required.
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Must be able to obtain a State of Texas vehicle operator's license within thirty days of employment.
Must qualify to operate a vehicle within the TAMUS guidelines.
Must maintain TAMUS approval.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Two (2) years working with disadvantaged students in a higher education setting.
Experience and knowledge with University academic advising of tutoring programs.
Supervising experience.
Bilingual skills are desirable.
Knowledge of Datatel, Microsoft Office software program, and presentation skills.
Knowledge of WTAMU degree programs, admissions criteria and registration, and financial aid policies.
Success in overcoming circumstances similar to those of the target population and bilingual skills are preferred.
Demonstrates sensitivity in serving disadvantaged student populations.
Experience with and/or understanding of Migrant populations and the College Assistance Migrant Program.
