Job Summary
Under the immediate supervision of a supervisor, the laborer performs at
a basic level a variety of manual labor tasks in the surface operations;
many job assignments with emphasis on heavy equipment and reclamation
duties as assigned. This person will perform all assigned process
specifications and instructions safely and competently. The individual
will report any malfunctions or abnormalities to their supervisor;
ensuring that the machinery and safety equipment are in good working
order and a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in their
workplace.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs, under minimum supervision, tasks of substantial variety or
complexity which require knowledge of the conveyor systems,
materials, tools, machines, and equipment relative to salt mining
Load the bulk products and quantity into inventory warehouse
Ensures material is packed and moved onto pallets
Determines weight of loads to ensure required specifications are met
Performs pre-inspection of machinery, storage equipment, and all
moving mechanical parts
Inspects finished product loads and ensures required specifications
are met
Adheres to safety policies and health regulations
Communicates with management of any situation that may affect the
safety of any employee or other issues that affect production or
quality of product
Inspects and performs daily routine housekeeping as necessary to
ensure a clean and safe work area
Must be familiar with all surface job functions to fill in when
necessary
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
