About Drivetrain Large Power Systems Division (LPSD)
Caterpillar's Drivetrain Division designs, tests and manufactures powertrain systems from 100 HP to 4000 HP on over 45 Prime Products going into ~300 machine models. These range from axles, transmissions, torque converters, differentials, final drives and supporting PF Drivetrain components procured externally. Caterpillar's company strategy includes sustainability as one of four focus areas and LPSD is engaged and actively preparing green energy solutions for the future.
Job Summary:
As a Data Scientist - Financial Reporting, you will be supporting the segment for Category Management, utilizing data to make informed decisions and tracking our results focused on material cost reduction. Data will be large data sets that have to be extracted, analyzed and represented in a visual manner.
What You Will Do:
Directing the data gathering, data mining, and data processing processes in huge volume; creating appropriate data models.
Supporting the execution of the segment's cost leadership strategy by managing metrics, dashboards and supporting management tools in place to monitor performance and deliver cost reduction initiatives.
Leading to define requirements and scope of data analyses and root cause data errors; presenting and reporting possible business insights to management using data visualization technologies.
Conducting research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve effectiveness and accuracy on data analyses.
What You Will Have:
Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools, processes, and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.
Level Working Knowledge:
Explains the basic decision process associated with specific statistics.
Works with basic statistical functions on a spreadsheet or a calculator.
Explains reasons for common statistical errors, misinterpretations, and misrepresentations.
Describes characteristics of sample size, normal distributions, and standard deviation.

Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use, support and access facilities for searching, extracting and formatting data for further use.

Applies appropriate query tools used to connect to the data warehouse.
Obtains and analyzes query access path information and query results.
Employs tested query statements to retrieve, insert, update and delete information.
Works with advanced features and functions including sorting, filtering and making simple calculations.
Proficient in PowerBI, Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Additional Information:
This position is located in Irving, TX or Mossville, IL and requires a 5-day-a week in office schedule

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $155,400.00
