Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a Construction Inspector in our Newark, DE Office for a variety of infrastructure projects throughout the Delaware-Maryland-Pennsylvania tri-state area. Typical assignments may include water and wastewater projects, erosion and sediment control inspection, stormwater facilities inspection, and other projects throughout the tri state area.
Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records
Participates in pre-construction meetings, punch list preparation, testing, and commissioning
Conducts safety inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies
Reviews and interprets construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Coordinates with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project progress
Performs material testing and quality control checks as required by project specifications
Monitors and documents construction progress, including taking photographs and maintaining detailed logs
Assists in the preparation of change orders and contract modifications as needed
Attends and contributes to project meetings, providing updates on inspection findings and construction progress
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations throughout the construction process
Understands construction plans, shop drawing submittals, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations, and identifies and documents deficiencies and deviations observed in the field
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports in Microsoft Word
Works frequently outdoors in a variety of seasonal weather conditions
Walks several miles daily to perform job duties, often across outdoor construction environments with a variety of uneven terrains such as mud, rock, grass, dirt and other unpaved terrains and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dust, and noise
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
U.S. Citizenship is required, due to the nature of the work
U.S. Valid Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction inspection experience on a variety of infrastructure project
Traveling experience, frequent traveling to field locations
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
DNREC Certified Construction Reviewer certification
Detailed-oriented and ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude
Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $35.00/hour - $43.00/hour.
