Summary The incumbent serves as a Plumber responsible for the tasks typical of a journeyman plumber in preventative maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems. He/she is assigned to the Plumbing shop within Facility Management Service. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems. Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment. Locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings. Placing hangers for proper level and slope. Determining and installing valves, traps and unions needed for completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment. Seating, hooking up and testing the equipment. Installing and maintaining Med Gas systems and backflow prevention devices. Interpreting building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of the system equipment. Using various hand and power tools common to the plumbing trade. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Plumber/PD50059A Physical Requirements: The incumbent tasks require standing, stooping, squatting, and kneeling in cramped positions for prolonged periods. He/she will be required to work from ladders and scaffolding. He/she will lift and carry heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds. This includes locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope, and determining the installing valves traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems. Ability to apply mathematical formulas, inspection, reading and interpretation of blueprints, and shop drawings to layout, cutting, assembling, and independent installation of piping and equipment or checking existing systems. Ability to solder and run a drain augur. Install plumbing fixtures and Pip Systems for Gas, Water, Steam, and Other Liquids.
