Senior Accountant with Workday Implementation Experience

Contract Position - Public Sector Client - South San Francisco, CA

Robert Half is seeking a skilled Senior Accountant with Workday implementation experience to assist a public sector client in South San Francisco. This contract role requires a seasoned accounting professional adept at technical accounting, ERP systems, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in enhancing the client's financial operations and driving successful Workday ERP implementation.

Responsibilities:

Support the Workday ERP implementation, including configuration, data migration, and testing.

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure Workday integrates seamlessly with existing financial processes and workflows.

Assist in streamlining accounting processes and identifying system optimization opportunities.

Perform technical accounting tasks, including account reconciliation, month-end closings, and journal entries.

Prepare and review financial reports to ensure compliance with regulatory and public sector requirements.

Train and mentor team members on utilization of Workday tools and processes.

Analyze complex financial data to deliver actionable insights for decision-making.

Ensure compliance with GAAP (Governmental Accounting Standards where applicable) and internal financial policies.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum 5-7+ years' experience in accounting roles with increasing responsibility.

Proven hands-on experience implementing Workday ERP (other ERP implementation experience a plus).

Strong knowledge of financial reporting, technical accounting, and budgeting.

Expertise in general ledger accounting, reconciliation, and month-end close processes.

Advanced proficiency with Excel and other financial tools, with experience consolidating large data sets.

Knowledge of public sector accounting practices is highly desired.

Professional certifications such as CPA, MBA, or equivalent experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities to liaise with stakeholders and team members.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Passion for leveraging technology to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.

Contract Details:

Location: South San Francisco, CA (onsite or hybrid, subject to client requirements).

Duration: Contract (likely 6-9 months, with potential to extend based on project needs).
