Robert Half is partnering with a client in the education industry to find a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to make an impact in a mission-driven organization that values education, growth, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee general ledger functions, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.

Lead budget preparation and variance analysis, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.

Reconcile bank accounts, payroll, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Assist in the development and documentation of internal policies and controls to improve operational efficiency.

Collaborate across departments to monitor grant funding, program expenses, and other education-specific financial activities.

Review and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including audits.

Oversee the work of accounting staff, providing mentorship and technical guidance when needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior experience in the education sector or nonprofit field preferred.

Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).

Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.

Experience with fund/grant accounting is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

CPA certification (or progress toward completion) is preferred but not required.
