Summary
In this role you will effectively manage an organization that provides, develops and implements training for design, estimating, and project management services in support of all PMDS activities while providing electrical service in a safe, consistent, and timely manner to our customers. Another key aspect of the role will be to manage a group of employees by ensuring consistent application of company policies and procedures while providing counsel to encourage career growth and employee development.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Manage an organization that provides, develops, and implements training for design, estimating, and project management services for all customer service requests such as residential, commercial and reactive maintenance projects.
Oversee Distribution Engineering design training team, and provide strategic guidance on prioritization of initiatives, monitor performance against clear objectives and expectations, and monitors staffing needs in accordance with market development.
Continuously work to identify process improvement opportunities within the PMDS specifically in regard to training functions and facilitate the implementation and documentation of those initiatives.
Establish and promote Safety as a priority in all aspects of daily activities, including the design and operation of facilities to ensure personal and public safety. Hold employees accountable for their actions concerning safety.
Maintain a work environment in compliance with Company policies and guidelines that will promote employee success with emphasis on Company policies, safety, diversity, communication, continuous process improvement, and employee development.
Define and measure Employee performance by objective and subjective criteria in conjunction with administrating the Company's salary plan in a fair manner.
Communicate with employees, customers, governmental entities, and other work groups to ensure internal and external expectations are met and promote a team building atmosphere with all internal organizations.
Participates in multi-functional teams and serves in leadership roles as needed.
Partners with Human Resources to assist with recruiting efforts for designer associate positions for the Distribution Engineering organization.
Builds and attracts key design talent for the team.
Ensures completion and retention of training documentation, records, and program materials.
Strive to exceed customer expectations through communication, innovation, and partnering in order to consistently improve customer satisfaction targets.
Assure compliance with regulatory and tariff requirements for system expansion (electric line extension policies).
Facilitate cross-functional team communication and collaboration with other workgroups including Engineering Standards and Maintenance Strategy, Distribution Operations, Performance Management, DOC Operations, and IT in order to gain efficiencies with data analytics and training initiatives.
Lead the Strategy, direct employees, processes and resources for developing and maintaining PMDS processes and objectives and training/supporting material by utilizing customer and stakeholder feedback through multiple channels/efforts to continuously improve customer experience.
Works with cross functional Managers to avoid duplication and identify interdependencies.
Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Skill
Must have work experience in technical decision making.
Must have demonstrated competency in using different computer software applications, preferably engineering, and operations applications.
Effective interpersonal skills, organization skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated project management - ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control projects assigned.
Education and Experience
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering related field is encouraged to apply.
Six or more years' experience in distribution and/or transmission operations, design, or project management is encouraged to apply.
Previous experience in distribution design and project management related to serving new customers is encouraged to apply.
