**Principal Accountabilies, Responsibilities, and General Job
Description
Position:** Construction Welder
Degree of Supervision Required:
( ) Independent
(X) Limited
Reports To: Leadman/Foreman/Supervisor
Pay Type: Hourly
Skills, Experience, Training Required:
Acceptable Layout skills (tape measure, level, and square).
General fitting skills; good structural steel fitting skills.
Proper skills with grinders, hand tools, and end prep tools.
Proper use of cutting torch.
General rigging skills; knowledge in proper use of most construction
equipment.
Familiar with and possess, the proper hand tools for the trade.
General understanding of mechanical prints and drawings.
Abilities with air arc and plasma arc.
Experience and qualifications with most materials (carbon, stainless
etc.).
Pass weld qualifications.
Experience in out of position welding.
Able to fulfill the attendance and travel requirements of the
construction industry.
Proper regard for all safety, quality, and production requirements for
the trade.
Essential Job Functions:
Read, draw, and interpret prints and drawings.
Calculate, layout, and fabricate components.
Prepare components for welding (grind, torch, millhog, etc.).
Calculate, fabricate, and install components.
Work with and be familiar with broad range of construction tools as well
as materials.
Work with riggers to prepare, locate, and rig materials into position
for welding or as a final product.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct helpers or laborers that have been instructed to assist you.
Follow rules, regulations, and policies as directed.
Perform work to quality and production standards as directed.
Work in other trades with direction (operator, mechanical, carpentry,
boiler, civil, painting, sandblasting, etc.)
