As an Area Service Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all activities related to Mechanical and Building Automation Systems (BAS) Service Agreements, Repairs, Upgrades/Enhancements, and the installation of new equipment. Your role will ensure a lifetime of connectivity with our customers, fostering long-term relationships and satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with the sales team to provide timely and accurate service agreement pricing, supporting sales through contract pricing on parts and services, and coordinating field service operations. You will manage the recruitment, training, and development of technicians to ensure a high level of service delivery. Additionally, you will oversee invoicing and collections processes to maintain financial health and ensure customer satisfaction.
Your leadership will be crucial in driving operational excellence, optimizing service delivery, and maintaining strong customer relationships. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
P&L
Provide monthly revenue forecasting and analysis.
Drive service agreement base growth, repairs, installation, and service turnkey growth by partnering with the acquisition team (sales).
Ensure financial targets are met and exceeded through effective management and strategic planning.
Budget Control
Manage and control expenses, ensuring they align with budget targets for overhead items such as fleet, uniforms, tools, and safety equipment.
Monitor and adjust spending to optimize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Risk Mitigation:
Identify and manage risks associated with service agreements, turnkey services, and repair work.
Implement strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Service Coordination Oversight:
Oversee the service coordination function to ensure efficient response to customer needs.
Ensure technicians' training and skill levels are appropriately balanced to meet customer demands.
Leverage resources across the district to optimize service delivery, including emergency repairs, regular maintenance contracts, scheduled work, upgrades, installations, replacement components, and long-term service agreements.
Employee Development:
Attract, coach, counsel, train, and develop all service employees.
Drive continuous improvement through company performance management processes and technical product training programs.
Develop employee skill levels, including customer service, process, and technical skills, to the highest degree possible.
Margin and Cash Flow Management:
Ensure margin expectations are met during sales and fulfillment activities.
Maximize cash flow by ensuring invoices are generated immediately upon completion of work.
Manage expense budgets and increase utilization of the service team.
Ensure that standard service work processes are created and followed.
Improve transactional processes impacting the customer experience and increase overall customer satisfaction.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations within the service team.
Provide training to all employees to ensure a safe and productive work environment both in the shop and at customer sites.
Site Visits:
Travel to customer job sites as required, which may include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms.
During site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other variable environmental conditions based on location.
What you will bring:
5+ years experience in HVAC or a related field, technical systems (or equipment or skilled trades).
3+ years experience managing and coaching large teams and organizing work schedules.
Project management skills to oversee and drive successful project execution for startups and customer requests.
Tech-savvy with expertise in Microsoft applications. Salesforce experience considered an asset.
Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Compensation:
Base Salary Range: $120-150k / yr.
Base Pay Range: Total compensation for this role will include an incentive plan
