The Construction Manager will report directly to the Execution Project Manager and be responsible for overseeing the Wind, PV or Battery (BESS) Field Construction activities including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural at a named project site within the Contiguous United States. This position plays a key role in the department through managing the field work of contractors and suppliers to ensure quality, schedule and safety objectives are achieved. Specific key areas of focus include monitoring job safety, conducting daily POD (Plan of the Day) meetings, completing daily reports, supervising contractors and vendors, maintaining project schedules and interfacing directly with the project team. The successful candidate will have a strong site presence and ensure company objectives are achieved.
Role Responsibilities:
Ensure the highest level of environmental health and safety compliance for RWE employees and contractors on assigned project
Develop, coordinate and manage all jobsites construction related activities providing field related support to the Execution Project Manager, including but not limited to daily and weekly reporting and record with project documentation, managing RWE's field personnel, managing field-related project planning, scheduling and quality control
Manage the interface between the Contractors and Suppliers to ensure overall compliance of their performance with the project contracts
Develop contractor scopes of work with Project Manager
Collaborate with engineering and project management teams in conducting design optimization, value engineering and constructability reviews of projects
Maintain working knowledge of codes, standards, new technology and internal company project requirements
Oversee testing and quality assurance checks by engineering staff to verify the quality of completed projects
Oversee and coordinate plant energization planning and procedures. Working with the Operations start up team, dispatch, etc.
Perform other duties, when assigned
Job Requirements and Experiences:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related preferred, or relevant industry experience
Driver's license
Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy projects in wind, PV or energy storage
Previous budget/schedule/performance/quality responsibilities
Specific experience with building energy systems including electrical, mechanical, civil, photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Experience in the overall integration of design engineering, construction, start-up, close-out, turnover of a variety of construction projects
Strong interpersonal skills to interact and work effectively across internal or external organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet tight deadlines in both group or independent work
Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines
Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
This position is field based at a project site with some time spent in RWECE offices (Chicago or Austin)
Ability to push/pull/lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
The ability to work safely in extreme field environments (hot sun, cold, etc.) where necessary
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as required to support the projects development and construction
Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time
Strong proficiency in Procore and all Microsoft Office products
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in Illinois is $106,000 - $150,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
