Summary
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for under the direction so the Economic Development Director implementing city-wide initiatives that strengthen the economic base, attract and retain quality businesses and effectively market Coral Gables as a vibrant business community. This is a highly responsible and organized position with the technical skills to support the Department's mission of marketing the City as South Florida's pre-eminent business location. The Marketing Manager will also be responsible for administrating events and programs focused on attracting and retaining businesses and enhancing the City's quality of life through cultural programming and other means. The incumbent will work proactively and collaboratively with other City departments and will exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment under the general supervision of the Economic Development Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for implementing and administering the marketing plans that support the economic development strategy for the City of Coral Gables, including business retention, business recruitment, new business start-up, and retail & office development to strengthen the commercial tax base while promoting and encouraging programs that enhance the City's quality of life.
Develops, implements and executes marketing plans which includes programs and activities, associated budgets, etc.
Maintains a steady and positive City presence in the media through press releases and other means. Coordinates and partners with the City's communications staff to create marketing campaigns.
Manages the contracts for various professional marketing services.
Markets and promotes the City's business environment, quality of life and cultural arts through a variety of marketing media including, but not limited to, video, radio, internet, news outlets, social media and print/digital materials.
Researches and analyzes statistical data, business trends and gathers relocation leads for further targeting. Writes and edits accurate, meaningful and readable copy. Creates marketing campaigns and tracks their impact on targeted audiences. Creates new marketing materials and refreshes existing ones.
Creates invites, ads, promotional materials, etc. and/or supervises the production of such graphic design work.
Assists with taking, producing and obtaining photographs of City landmarks, streetscapes, and business activities, etc. for use in promotions.
Develops partnerships with the tourism industry and arts groups to develop and promote Coral Gables as a tourism destination. Manages Gallery Night activities and its promotion as well as other similar programs.
Assists with marketing programs and activities related to the potential establishment of a central business district organization or similar @type of organization.
Remains informed on new technologies, best practices, and advancements in marketing and media.
Researches, writes and submits department or projects/programs for awards and grant opportunities in support of the department's goals and objectives.
Assists with updating and maintaining the department's webpage(s), business news and calendar sections and related information. Troubleshoots and maintains department's digital assets such as Google business page, businessexplorer.coralgables.com, live surveys/forms and leverages them to support the department's mission.
Assists with and coordinates special projects, events, workshops, etc. that among other things, helps businesses grow, enhances our business-friendly environment, and reinforces the maintenance of clean and inviting business community.
Coordinates the City's sponsorship programs, which includes the Fourth of July, and obtains sponsors for City events and initiatives as needed.
Evaluates and recommends project priorities and maintains financial records of projects in progress.
Conducts research and prepares documentation, detailed reports, memoranda, PowerPoint presentations, and correspondence as necessary.
Assists the director with various matters including, but not limited to researching and writing Commission items, assisting with organization and execution of community meetings, writing and producing presentations and other matters as assigned.
Represents the department as directed and may serve on a variety of internal and external committees.
Assists with the creation of promotional items or items to be sold on the City's online shop.
Tracks key performance indicators for the department and tracks the department's accomplishments/activities.
Works collaboratively with members of the Department to accomplish all departmental goals.
Performs other related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, public relations, English, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum three (3) years responsible and relevant marketing experience. International marketing experience and knowledge of economic development practices desired.
A valid Florida Driver's License.
HOLIDAYS: 15 days including 3 floating days.
SICK LEAVE: 110 hours annually.
ANNUAL LEAVE: 94 hours in the first year of employment, increasing up to 210 after 25 years. Employees must take 40 hours of annual leave each year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: 5 or 10 days for the death of a family member in accordance with the City's Personnel Rules & Regulations.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Fully paid by the City (HMO Select). Coverage becomes effective 1st of month following 30 days. Employee may purchase coverage for eligible dependents at a cost of approximately 50% of the premium.
DENTAL INSURANCE: Available at a cost to all employees through payroll deduction.
LIFE INSURANCE: Term Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment equal to 1 x annual salary (up to $200,000) fully paid by the City.
VOLUNTARY BENEFITS: Several plans are available, such as Short Term Disability, Life Insurance and Critical Illness policies through payroll deductions.
LEGAL SERVICES: Legal Service plan available at a cost to all employees through payroll deductions.
POST EMPLOYMENT HEALTH PLAN (PEHP): The City deposits $950 annually into an individual account for each employee. Monies may be used to pay premiums or medical expenses after retirement.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Employees may defer a portion of their pre-tax salary in the 457 Deferred Compensation Program.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT: $2,000 per semester ($6,000 maximum annually) as per the City's Rules and Regulations.
CELL PHONE: Cell phone provided at a monthly cost of $20.00, if required by department.
RECREATIONAL USE: Employee, spouse and immediate family members seventeen (17) years of age and under are entitled to the benefits below:
Venetian Pool - No charge for daily admission.
Tennis Centers - No charge for daily court fees
Youth Center - 50% off residential rates for memberships and 25% off camps and other programs.
Golf at Biltmore & Granada:
Monday through Friday - no charge
Saturday, Sunday and Holidays:
Before Noon - Twilight fees apply
After Noon - No charge
(cart fees apply at all times)
PENSION:
City Retirement Plan - Mandatory employee contribution of 10 % of salary; Vesting period is 10 years.
OR
Defined Contribution - 401a - Contribution by City of 7% of employee base annual salary. Vesting period 5 years. Employee not required to contribute.
