Description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join our team in West Des Moines, Iowa. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to contribute to accounting operations. The role involves managing cash applications, processing payments, and ensuring accurate account reconciliation.

Responsibilities:

Process and apply payments to correct accounts by reviewing, scanning, and coding incoming documents.

Manage daily deposits, including posting transactions and retrieving commissions using designated software.

Upload and organize scanned documents to maintain accurate and accessible records.

Utilize intermediate Excel skills to analyze and organize financial data.

Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.

Handle accounts receivable tasks, such as coding payments and assigning bank codes.

Collaborate with the team to ensure streamlined cash processing operations.

Maintain detailed documentation to support financial audits and reporting requirements.

Assist with invoice processing and data entry as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

Proficiency in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Familiarity with document management systems and electronic filing.

Background in insurance or knowledge of commission structures is a plus.

Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
