Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This contract role offers an opportunity to contribute to a dedicated non-profit organization by ensuring smooth financial operations. The ideal candidate will excel in handling payments, reimbursements, and other accounting tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Process invoices and ensure accurate coding and tracking within the accounts payable system.

Manage and execute weekly check runs and Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions.

Handle employee and student reimbursement requests promptly and in compliance with organizational policies.

Collaborate with team members to handle 100-200 monthly payments efficiently.

Ensure timely and accurate processing of organizational payments, including vendor and internal disbursements.

Maintain thorough records and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.

Assist with resolving discrepancies and inquiries related to accounts payable.

Utilize systems such as Concur to streamline invoice and payment workflows. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable processes, including invoice coding and payment management.

Strong proficiency in handling ACH transactions and check runs.

Familiarity with systems such as Concur for invoice and expense processing.

Ability to manage high-volume payment cycles efficiently and accurately.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication skills to address inquiries and collaborate with team members.

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Previous experience in a non-profit environment is preferred but not required.
