Pay Range: $58.29 - $91.81 per hour

Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Data Scientist serves as the liaison between pharmacy operations, pharmacy informatics, and system knowledge management teams to inform, design, build, and analyze the prioritization and strategic growth of the RUSH pharmacy enterprise. The role is responsible for designing, managing, and analyzing healthcare data systems to optimize patient care, improve operational efficiency, and support implementation of best practice and evidence-based care decision making. This role bridges clinical pharmacy knowledge with technical skills in data engineering and informatics to support healthcare organizations in delivering efficient, safe, and data-driven enterprise pharmacy services. Required Job Qualifications:
Each requirement must be a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ).
Education: PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) or equivalent degree in pharmacy
Experience: PGY1 pharmacy practice or equivalent experience
Licensure(s): Eligible for IL registered pharmacist within 6 months of hiring Experience diagnosing and resolving errors in complex reports.
Experience with research and troubleshooting reporting and data issues.
Strong analytical, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
Experience with test reporting solutions in house reporting solutions, i.e., Tableau, MS SQL Server, and Oracle.
Experience with reports, dashboards, and scorecards using Microsoft SSRS, SSAS, and MDX in a data warehousing environment.
Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and using relational databases.
Ability to perform detailed data analysis (i.e., determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples).
Good visual aesthetic sense relative to report development and presentation to the user.
Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation, and customer-facing skills
Must have a strong customer service orientation and excellent organizational skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience: PGY2 Pharmacy informatics or equivalent experience
Experience: Demonstrated clinical pharmacy experience; Proven experience with data engineering tools and healthcare IT systems (e.g., EHRs like Epic or Cerner).
Specialized certification(s): Epic Revenue Data Model, Epic Clinical Data Model Certification, Epic Clarity Data Model Certification, Epic Caboodle (Data Warehouse) Data Model Certification, Epic Cogito Certification, Epic Willow Ambulatory Certification, Epic Willow Inpatient Certification
Physical Demands:
Competencies:
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Oracle, T-SQL, PL/SQL) and data tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
Knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, drug formularies, and clinical guidelines (e.g. RxNorm, SNOMED CT).
Strong understanding of database design, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and data warehousing.
Familiarity with ERP and EMR information systems
Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and clinical teams.

Collaborative Problem Solving
o Produces deliverables for leadership and communicates with all levels of stakeholders.
o Collaborate with healthcare providers to implement and refine workflows that incorporate pharmaceutical data and clinical knowledge to advance patient care.
Pharmacy Informatics
o Continuous improvement of pharmacy-related IT systems, including medication-dispensing software, inventory-management tools, and automated dispensing technologies.
o Leverage data to improve medication safety, reduce errors, and enhance clinical decision-making.
Data Management and Integration
o Gather business and data requirements from stakeholders.
o Captures, develops, and documents data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
o Design and maintain databases that store pharmaceutical, clinical, and operational data (e.g., medication records, patient outcomes, and drug interactions).
o Integrate data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), pharmacy management systems, and clinical decision support tools into actionable datasets to optimize and automate decision-making.
Data Analysis, Modeling, and Reporting
o Creates and collects data models to analyze large datasets related to medication use, patient outcomes, and health system operations using statistical and machine learning techniques.
o Conducts data analysis in support of a variety of analytic solutions.
o Create and produce forecasts, reports, ad hoc requests, dashboards, etc.
o Interprets data, analyzes results, creates visualizations, and provides insights to determine operational impact, trends, and opportunities to communicate insights to pharmacists, clinicians, and leadership.
o Produces reports and analytics that facilitate evidence-based clinical, financial, and operational decisions.
Systems Development and Automation
o Identifies and defines both process and data improvements.
o Build and maintain systems to process, integrate, and transform data into robust analytics.
o Create algorithms or models to predict medication utilization
o Work with software developers to integrate data solutions into existing healthcare platforms.
Stakeholder, Regulatory, and Clinical Support
o Ensures compliance with deliverable reporting requirements by performing quality data audits and analysis.
o Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulations
o Provide expertise on drug-related data to support clinical trials, population health management, or precision medicine initiatives.
