Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Managers in news operations will be responsible for knowing the ins and outs of how the teams they support work at every level. They will be a regular presence everywhere news is made - in the newsroom, the control room, in the field. The ideal candidate will have a keen sense of editorial and production processes and will be passionate about optimizing workflows, creatively solving complex issues, and contributing to the overall success of MSNBC.
You will work closely with your team to turn insight into action - searching for actionable solutions to problems, connecting story tellers with technical stakeholders, and engaging the newsroom in conversation about what's working, what's broken, and how to fix it. You will own the weekends, ensuring teams are fully supported in their mission of bringing world-class journalism to our audience.
Responsibilities
Own relationships with editorial stakeholders to understand their workflow needs and pain points and provide general operational support to the editorial mission of the news brands of Versant
Lead analysts as they document as-is workflows, identify ways to standardize processes, conduct analysis to identify key metrics, understand performance, uncover areas ripe for optimization or improvement
Proactively research, evaluate and recommend innovative technology solutions to address areas of need and future-proof NBCU News Group workflows
Work with cross-functional teams - including product, development and engineering - to integrate technology solutions into editorial team workflows
Offer ongoing support to ensure successful implementation and adoption of process improvements
Develop training materials, lead trainings, and provide guidance to stakeholders on new and updated workflows and technology
Establish and implement quality assurance measures to ensure adherence to standardized workflows
Ensure editorial teams receive the same level of support and attention no matter the platforms they serve, nor the time of day they work.
When news calls you answer - you're ready to work odd hours including the occasional night, early morning, or holiday as news events demand.
5+ Years of Relevant Experience
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate complex processes
Proficient in process mapping and flowcharting techniques to visually represent and analyze workflows
Familiarity with workflow management software and tools (Visio, Figma, Lucidchart etc.)
Advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Strategic mindset and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in relevant field
Additional Information
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
Salary: $110,000-$135,000 (bonus eligible)
