ChurchSource has been serving churches and ministry leaders as the direct-to-church arm of HarperCollins Christian Publishing (HCCP) for nearly 30 years, through a dedicated sales team, direct mail catalogs, content marketing, conference sponsorship, and our ecommerce store, ChurchSource.com.
The Senior Marketing Manager leads the execution of ChurchSource marketing campaigns, focusing on key audiences of pastors, small group leaders, women's ministry leaders, and church administrators. This hands-on role is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and execution of marketing campaigns to church leaders, including direct mail, promotional emails, content newsletters, blogs, lead and sales funnels, online merchandising, and conference logistics. Working with our DTC marketing platform teams, as well as title marketers and the social content team, the Senior Manager will own development and flawless execution of campaigns, including, but not limited to: campaign concept and strategy; title selection and promotional strategy; forecasting and inventory management; messaging and copy development; and working with digital marketing platform leaders to bring initiatives and campaigns to life.
This person should be a brand expert, ensuring that all eCommerce campaigns and sales touchpoints feel authentic and organic to the ChurchSource brand and voice, while working with in-house content and strategy experts to help them understand the needs and buying patterns of church staff and lay leaders.
This role requires proactive communication, a high degree of attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines.
The ChurchSource team is based in Grand Rapids, MI, and we welcome qualified remote candidates.
Responsibilities
Work with internal marketing and design teams to create and execute integrated, strategic marketing campaigns to reach pastors and church leaders with timely offers and relevant content
Drive sales and ensure the business meets both net sales and contribution targets
Concept and lead execution for campaigns, including promotional strategy and calendar, title selection, on-site merchandising, creative and messaging vision based on brand insights and direct marketing best practices
Write actionable, felt-need driven promotional copy, keywords, headlines, content associated with all eCommerce campaigns, ensuring content is aligned with the ChurchSource brand
Lead visual and written messaging, including execution for messaging and copy development for on-site, email, SMS, catalogs, and performance marketing
Partner with digital marketing platforms to execute on campaigns and initiatives across email, SMS, social media and paid marketing with an eye towards leveraging best practices, constant testing and iteration to optimize performance
Collaborate with publishing teams to maximize content marketing and opportunities with key authors' social media, website, and speaking events
Manage all aspects of catalog and direct mail project management including schedule, budget, mailing lists, analysis, creative direction, product selection, and promotions
Coordinate all aspects of conference sponsorship, including contracts, product orders, display assets, merchandising, promotions, giveaways, signage, and lead collection
Develop, deploy, and analyze performance of seasonal emails and phone scripts used by the ChurchSource sales team
Promotional and pricing strategies and execution
Forecasting and inventory management for key seasonal and promotional titles
Obtain Finance and/or Legal approval of promotions and campaigns
Support strategic vision and planning process to develop and meet KPIs
Support strategic discussions and campaign planning processes
Lead regular and ad hoc analytics reviews and reporting
Occasional travel may be required
Qualifications
Work Experience/Knowledge:
5-6 years of digital marketing experience within an eCommerce setting, ideally with Shopify Plus experience
Experience working across marketing platforms including, but not limited to catalog, events, email and SMS marketing, and performance marketing
Experience with direct-response marketing tactics and design elements
Experience developing and creating eCommerce campaigns in a B2B setting
Deep understanding of eCommerce analytics and KPIs; able to interpret the data and develop actionable insights from it
Experience in brand marketing and campaign development
Experience in messaging and copy development
Experience in basic project management and execution
Familiarity with Google Analytics, Canva, and other digital marketing and analytics tools
Familiarity with Airtable, Asana, Jira, or other project management systems
Familiarity with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms
Familiarity with CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics preferred
Education: Bachelor's in marketing, communications, or related field
Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of the church leadership world, pastor and church leader felt needs and mindset preferred
Familiarity with the publishing industry preferred
Comfortable with data, with a nuanced understanding of how data informs eCommerce strategy
Understand fundamentals of eCommerce and digital sales, and how different digital marketing channels drivevalue within the eCommerce ecosystem
Skills:
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Creative problem solver, with a strong attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in marketing copywriting and/or copyediting
Must be able to work independently under tight deadlines
Agile mindset, with the ability to pivot calendars, strategies and plans to ensure relevance and resonance
Ability to translate strategy into brand-specific tactics and communication points
Strong cross-channel analytics capabilities, particularly being able to synthesize and analyze data points across channels. Specific experience with Google Analytics is a plus.
Experience managing multiple, competing priorities, duties and/or projects
Strong computer skills necessary, especially Microsoft Excel
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
