Position Description Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking an individual for the position of Prep Cook. The responsibilities of the Prep Cook will include preparing food as directed by the chef and cook staff, making sandwiches and salads and maintaining sanitary procedures in the kitchen and food storage areas.Position Requirements Education: High School diploma or equivalent Experience: One-year cooking experience in restaurant, catering, or hotel preferred. Knowledge/Skills: - Knife Skills - Basic equipment operation & safe handling practices - Cold food preparation and serving - Proper sanitation procedures - Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. - Knowledge of a point-of-sale system preferred. - Nassau County Department of Health sanitation certificate preferred. - Ability to understand the Spanish language is helpful. The hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
