The External Operations Senior Manager serves as the general manager for MD External Operations manufacturing sites. This role is pivotal in managing relationships with assigned external manufacturers, ensuring reliable product supply and cost-effectiveness while meeting customer service, compliance, and product requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Manage manufacturing operations of contract suppliers to ensure product availability.
Oversee costs, feasibility requests, and vendor quotes.
Identify and evaluate new suppliers and their capabilities.
Establish and implement policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures for procurement.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of processes and technical details for products at contract manufacturing facilities.
Manage technology transfer and startup activities at third-party facilities.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors and contractors for reliable supply sources.
Collaborate with partners to leverage opportunities and manage improvements and scale-ups.
Process disputed purchases to protect the company while ensuring fairness to suppliers.
Develop monthly metrics and data supporting worldwide sales and order documentation, ensuring compliance with policies.
Stay informed of market trends affecting suppliers, costs, and strategic implications.
Identify cost reduction opportunities and supervise related efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required; MBA and APICS certification are desirable.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Required:
8 years of related experience
Medical device experience preferred.
Experience in supply chain disciplines such as External Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Distribution, or Finance.
Proven experience in managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and working on supplier agreements.
Experience in Manufacturing Operations, particularly in a GMP environment.
Strong analytical and technical aptitude, project management skills, and capability to lead cross-functional projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective cross-functional interaction. - Proficiency in Internet and MS Office Suite; prior knowledge of Advanced Planning systems such as ERP, MRP, and SAP is a plus.
Preferred:
Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence tools and training or certification.
Experience in commercialization of new products is highly preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$120,000- $207,000
