Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This Contract-to-Permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic educational organization by managing key financial processes such as accounts payable, payroll, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrate a high level of accountability, and excel in meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Process high-volume accounts payable transactions, including weekly check runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciling accounts and preparing financial reports.

Conduct purchasing card (P-Card) audits for multiple users, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and correcting miscoded transactions.

Reconcile activity and bank accounts on a regular basis to maintain accurate financial records.

Support payroll operations by verifying data and ensuring compliance with established standards.

Prepare documentation and assist in year-end audit processes, maintaining compliance with all regulations.

Contribute to the implementation of a Purchase Order (PO) system, collaborating with vendors to streamline operations.

Maintain and apply the chart of accounts consistently, ensuring proper categorization of financial transactions.

Manage assigned tasks independently, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

Provide support for financial reporting and analysis as needed. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable (AP), including processing invoices and managing check runs.

Familiarity with month-end close procedures, payroll processes, and year-end audit preparation.

Strong skills in account reconciliation, including both bank and activity accounts.

Knowledge of purchasing card (P-Card) audits and compliance requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software; advanced Excel skills are highly desirable.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

Prior experience in the education sector is a plus, but not required.
