Intermediate Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Tallahassee, Florida. This role is ideal for someone with extensive accounting expertise who thrives in fast-paced environments. You will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and review journal entries with precision to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to uphold the integrity of financial data.

Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.

Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances and transactions.

Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.

Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets and operating budgets.

Apply GAAP and US GAAP principles to all accounting procedures.

Utilize Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling.

Execute month-end and year-end accounting close processes to finalize financial statements.

Analyze aging accounts and chart of accounts to support strategic decision-making. Requirements - Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, preferably in intermediate-level roles.

Proficiency in journal entry preparation and general ledger management.

Strong skills in account reconciliation and resolving discrepancies.

In-depth knowledge of GAAP and US GAAP standards.

Expertise in financial tools such as Microsoft Excel and 10-key accounting systems.

Experience in managing accounts payable and the accounting cycle.

Familiarity with annual budget preparation and operating budget analysis.

Background in county government accounting is a plus.
