In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Unit, focusing primarily on healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse investigations . Responsibilities:
As a Litigation and Investigations Auditor, your duties will include-but are not limited to-the following:
Conduct forensic financial analyses, including review of bank records, wire transfers, ledgers , and other documentation.
Perform open-source intelligence research and database queries to gather information on individuals, entities, and assets.
Analyze large, complex healthcare claims datasets to detect patterns of fraud, waste, and abuse.
Design and execute SQL queries and data models to detect anomalous billing trends.
Utilize CMS tools (e.g., OnePI, STARS, Business Objects ) to extract and manipulate federal health claims data.
Prepare clear, concise analytical summaries, memoranda, charts, and visualizations to support litigation and investigative decision-making.
Summarize financial transactions and flag suspicious activity for further review.
Evaluate allegations of fraud and make data-driven recommendations to AUSAs.
Assist in developing and refining investigative strategies and plans.
Collaborate with attorneys and investigators to develop leads and conduct case assessments.
Deliver both oral briefings and written reports to AUSAs on findings and recommendations.
Contribute to internal best practices and workflows for fraud detection and data analytics.
Qualifications:
Required:
CPA certification is required
Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) in Accounting or a related field
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
Minimum 3 years of experience as an auditor
At least 2 years of specialized experience in subject matter areas such as Medicare/Medicaid billing systems , or DoD inventory and audit systems
Familiarity with accounting and financial analysis applications and platforms
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data clearly and persuasively
Desired:
Experience in healthcare fraud investigations
Previous involvement in a litigation or law enforcement environment
Experience working in auditing teams , including team leadership or project management
Working knowledge of automated litigation support tools
High attention to detail and analytical rigor

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$61,600-$129,300
