Job Summary:
This is an Accountant I position in the Finance and Accounting office - Accounts Payable section, which performs a range of financial accounting duties.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Performing accounting functions associated with the auditing and scheduling of payments to vendors, providers, and other agencies.
Auditing and preparing invoices to ensure accuracy prior to disbursement of funds.
Responsible for reconciling expenditures, data entry, and departmental correcting entries.
Ensures proper documentation for purchasing card charges and reconciles charges through state approved systems.
Monitoring pending invoices to ensure in line with Prompt Payment Compliance.
Maintain vendor payment information and data for services using various databases.
Serve as back-up to accounts payable team.
Perform other accounting duties, as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum
A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience working accounts payable, in a business setting
A minimum of two (1) years of professional experience working with online computer systems and multiple software applications.
Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams)
Preferred
One (1) year or more of professional accounts payable experience within the last five (5) years.
One (1) year or more professional experience maintaining and preparing accounting and financial reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Basic accounting principles and procedures, use of accounting systems; methods of data collection and analysis; problem solving techniques; correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Skills in: The use of standard software programs including Microsoft Office Suite applications; navigating various financial software applications, auditing and tracking invoices, payments, approvals and documentation, public speaking and communicating technical information at appropriate levels to different audiences.
Ability to: Understand and apply applicable policies, and procedures; analyze financial transactions and reconcile accounting records; think critically; organize, analyze and evaluate data; review data for accuracy and completeness.
