Employees of the WMASS Office handle legal matters from various areas of the Attorney General's Office (AGO), including the Government, Public Protection, Health Care and Fair Competition, Energy and Environment, and Criminal Bureaus. The WMASS Office also provides on-site assistance to residents with labor, civil rights, and consumer issues, including providing consumer mediation services, and serves as a regional hub for the implementation of AGO-wide priorities that involve community outreach, education and policy initiatives. Primary Duties: TheChief of the WMASS Office is responsible for the overall administration, management, and direction of the regional office and for supervision of all its business. The Chief supervises and directs an office comprised of Assistant Attorneys General, civil investigators, inspectors, consumer mediators, victim witness advocates, community outreach coordinator, Massachusetts State Police, paralegals, and administrative staff; reviews and assigns WMASS Office caseload; oversees case management and reporting requirements; assists in developing and implementing community education, training, and outreach programs; and is responsible for reporting on WMASS Office activities to the Attorney General and her executive staff. The Chief is also expected to handle a moderate caseload of litigation matters. The Chief works directly with Bureau Chiefs of the Attorney General's Office to coordinate substantive legal matters and cross-bureau initiatives as well as lead the efforts of WMASS staff to implement office-wide priorities and to respond to systemic concerns unique to the region. Because certain WMASS staff also report directly to division managers in Boston, including the Fair Labor, Civil Rights, Consumer Protection, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Trial, Neighborhood Renewal, Civil Investigations, Consumer Response and Advocacy, False Claims, and the Criminal Divisions, the Chief coordinates staff supervision with managers of those divisions. The Chief serves as the Office's liaison with local public officials and community organizations throughout the region. Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
