Exciting opportunity to join BMO as a Director on the Investment and Corporate Banking Loan Syndications team covering North American project finance, power, infrastructure, and energy transition with significant involvement on deal teams selling U.S. private placements. BMO's Loan Syndications is responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of syndicated and club lending transactions; collaborates extensively with Investment and Corporate Banking partners in the U.S. and Canada on dynamic deal teams to win syndicated lending mandates; and provides current and prospective clients with creative financing solutions.
Role responsibilities include :
Market project finance, structured power, infrastructure and energy transition transactions to existing and prospective clients, including corporate clients (utilities, IPPs, etc.) and infrastructure fund clients (including both the funds and their portfolio companies) across North America
Partner with senior Investment Banking and Corporate Banking professionals as part of deal teams to generate comprehensive advisory and product solutions across loan, debt and equity capital markets
Originate, structure, market and execute syndicated loan transactions
Manage U.S. sales and distribution to private placement investors Leadership and oversight of deal teams that prepare and negotiated credit documentation for internal and external stakeholders (i.e., applications, memoranda, presentations)
Deep credit knowledge and understanding of transaction risk factors (credit, market, operational, legal / compliance) and effective communication of those factors to senior management and other key internal stakeholders
Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, borrowers/issuers and loan investors
Leverage dialogue across syndicate desks and investors
Qualifications :
7+ years of project finance and syndicated lending experience with demonstrated excellence at the Director level
Relevant experience in investment banking, negotiating and structuring financial transactions including experience developing business in a corporate lending environment
Proven ability to successfully win mandates, manage and serve clients evidenced by breadth of borrower / issuer / sponsor relationship network as well as bank and institutional investor network
Experience originating, structuring and negotiating project finance loans and complex hybrid corporate-project finance structures
Established network across other loan syndication and private placement desks with existing network and knowledge base of active lenders/investors within project finance, structured power, infrastructure and energy transition
Experience managing the marketing and placement of debt securities in the private placement market
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with private placement investors
Based in New York with frequent travel across North America
Deal execution and project management skills - ability to manage multiple live transactions / projects / initiatives at a time
Strong skills in quantitative analytics and credit analysis
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Create and deliver professional presentations
Highly collaborative
Undergraduate degree with high academic achievement, MBA a plus
