THE POSITION
Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and enjoy working outdoors and with people? Join the Pennsylvania Game Commission as a Hunter Access Program Technician where you will play a vital role in connecting hunters with private landowners to expand public hunting opportunities. This position gives you the opportunity to share your passion of the outdoors with staff and the general public through administration and implementation of the Hunter Access Program in our Southwest Region of Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this unique position with the Game Commission's Southwest Region, you will support the administration of the Hunter Access Program, collaborate with agency staff, engage with landowners across the region, and contribute to key initiatives like the Certified Hunter Program-all while supporting Pennsylvania's rich hunting heritage and conservation mission. Work involves conducting site visits with landowners for executing agreements, delivering program signage, and other duties which require travel in and around your assigned region, as well as using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to view or edit maps or special data, and using computers and mobile devices for data entry, reporting, and communication tasks. You will also have the chance to learn about agency programs to assist with public outreach and implementation. Apply now and achieve your goals with us!
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Note: the reporting work location is located in Westmoreland County; however, work will cover all counties within the Southwest Region.
Temporary, full-time employment (2-year limited term) 40 hours per week.
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Due to operational reasons, work schedule may be changed in accordance with contractual provisions.
Overtime may be required.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
You must possess a valid driver's license.
You must have experience with and be comfortable conducting field visits and interacting with landowners to gather property information.
You must have experience using GIS software (such as ArcPro, ArcMap, or Google Earth) to view or edit maps or spatial data.
You must have experience with and be comfortable using computers and mobile devices for data entry, reporting, and communication tasks.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Familiar with the purpose of the Pennsylvania Game Commission's Hunter Access Program
Experience communicating with the public through work, school, or volunteer activities (Includes face-to-face, phone, or email communications.)
Currently hold, or have ever held, a valid hunting and/or trapping license
Experience working with or in Pennsylvania's farming community
Legal Requirements:
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
